Syracuse Basketball Assistant Bernie Fine Being Investigated For Alleged Molestation Of Ball Boy

The Penn State Jerry Sandusky Scandal may have opened a terrible can of worms that college sports fans, and everyone else, is going to wish they could unsee.

While Jim Boeheim’s longtime reign at Syracuse is touted often, Fine is as much a Syracuse-lifer as Boeheim.

Fine was a student-manager for the Syracuse basketball team in 1963 when Boeheim was a player on the squad. Fine graduated in 1967 and became a high school basketball coach in the area soon after.

When Jim Boeheim took over as head coach at Syracuse in 1976, he hired Fine and Rick Pitino as his assistants. Fine has always focused on the forwards and centers and is often credited for helping players like Louis Orr, Rony Seikaly, Derrick Coleman and Etan Thomas in their careers.

Fine was named the assistant head coach at Syracuse in 2000 and briefly coached the team in 2001 when Boeheim missed three games due to health problems.

Fine was named a Syracuse University Letterwinner of Distinction in 1999.
