No. 3 Ohio State vs. North Florida Recap: Jared Sullinger Powers Buckeyes’ Win

Jared Sullinger enjoyed one of the finest games of his collegiate career, tallying 27 points with 13 rebounds while helping the third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeat the completely overmatched North Florida Ospreys, 85-50. Sullinger, who shot 9-of-16 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, added three steals for good measure.

As bad as the final score looks, it could have been much worse: Sullinger played just 27 minutes. It was the third-most points he’s ever scored in a game for the Buckeyes, equaling his total from last season’s meeting against Illinois on Jan. 22. His only games with more points occurred last December, when he dropped 40 against IUPUI and 30 against South Carolina.

Ohio State also received significant contributions from Deshaun Thomas, who scored 16 points with six boards in 28 minutes, and William Buford, who shot just 4-of-13 from the field but finished with 13 points, five boards and four assists.

North Florida had only one player crack double-digits in scoring: backup Parker Smith, who finished the game with exactly 10 points. Unfortunately, he also tied for the team lead with five of his team's 23 turnovers.

Ohio State improved to 4-0 on the season while extending their home winning streak to 26 games. North Florida, on the other hand, fell to 1-4. The Ospreys have never won a game against a ranked opponent in 11 tries.
