No. 20 Cincinnati vs. Northwestern State Recap: Bearcats Rebound From Embarrassing Loss
Three other Bearcats cracked double-digits, with Sean Kilpatrick scoring 13, Dion Dixon 12 and Ge'Lawn Guyn 10. On paper, a 28-point win might look good, but as Matt Opper states at Bearcats blog Down The Drive, there's plenty of room for improvement:
The scoreboard showed a 28 point victory, and that’s fine. But the scoreboard isn’t an accurate tale of how the game played out. UC started out very sloppy on both sides of the ball. The offense was at best erratic and inefficient, at worst flat out atrocious. The transition defense is and will continue to be the achilles heel of the defense. Half a dozen times the Demons easily beat several loafing Bearcats for easy lay ups and the occasional dunk.
William Mosley, Northwestern State's star center who led the nation with 4.9 blocks per game last season, was lost to a right knee injury in the second half. He finished the game with four points, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 24 minutes. Shamir Davis and James Hulbin led Northwestern State with 13 points apiece.
