Marshawn Powell Injury: Arkansas Forward Out For The Year

Arkansas Razorbacks forward Marshawn Powell will miss the remainder of the 2011-2012 basketball season due to a torn ACL.

The Razorbacks confirmed Powell’s injury after he underwent an MRI to reveal the extent of the damage, which occurred during practice in Little Rock on Thursday night. He did not play in Friday’s loss to Houston and his absence now leaves the Razorbacks with nine scholarship players this season.

The timetable for Powell’s return is six-to-eight months.

Powell was a preseason second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection. He averaged 14.9 points per game as a freshman and 10.8 last season after being limited by a foot injury. He averaged 19.5 points and six rebounds through the first two games of the season.
