The Vanderbilt Commodores dropped a tough one in overtime to No. 11 Xavier, 82-70. At one point in the game the Commodores led by eight points, and they led at halftime 34-29. But in overtime Vanderbilt went scoreless for four full minutes and scored just four total points. Xavier kept the pace up the entire game and ran away with it in the extra period after tying the game with eight seconds left on a Mark Lyons layup.

Xavier pulled away in overtime for the victory. Guard Tu Holloway led the way for the Musketeers with 24 points with another 19 from Mark Lyons. Forward Andre Walker made a big impact and was a big reason for the Xavier rally grabbing 14 rebounds.
