Baylor Vs. UConn Final Score: Brittney Griner Leads Bears To 66-61 Win

After being down 11 with 13 minutes to go in the second half, the No. 1 Baylor Bears rode their junior superstar Brittney Griner to a 66-61 home victory over the No. 2 Connecticut Huskies in a showdown between the two best teams in women's basketball.

An athletic 6’8 forward with a 7’4 wingspan, Griner’s size changed the game on both sides of the floor.

Despite Connecticut zone playing a 2-3 zone in an effort to keep the ball out of her hands, Griner had 25 points on 9-15 shooting. She also grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 9 shots, breaking the Big 12 career record for rejections in the process.

The Huskies, who were up 34-28 at the half, stayed in the game by shooting 37.9% from beyond the arc, with sophomore guard Bria Hartley and freshman forward Kaleena Mosqueada-Lewis combining to go 8-16 from three-point range.

The Bears, needing some outside shooting to give Griner more room to operate in the paint, found it from sophomore point guard Odyssey Simms. Simms finished with 23 points, including shooting 3-4 from long-distance.
