Connecticut's Andre Drummond, whose last-minute decision this summer to forgo a final year of high school and play for the Huskies made UConn a contender to repeat in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, was initially thought to have robbed fellow UConn player Michael Bradley of a scholarship, as Drummond needed to be placed on scholarship as a recruited player.

↵As it turns out, that’s not the case, and Drummond has now swapped his scholarship for non-institutional financial aid and help from his family, making him one of the best walk-ons in recent memory. And, given that the projected lottery pick is likely to have no problem paying off his loans with NBA earnings next year, it seems like this story has a happy ending. Being 6’10” and great at basketball helped a college student out! Go figure!
