Freshman reserve Kyle Wiltjer scored a career-high 24 points as No. 3 Kentucky overcame a slow start to run away from visiting Loyola (Md.) 87-63 on Thursday. The victory was UK’s 42nd straight at home.

After leading just 45-39 at halftime, Wiltjer and fellow freshmen Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist spearheaded a 17-2 Wildcat run in the second half that put the game out of reach. Davis contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, while Kidd-Gilchrist added 15 points and seven rebounds. Senior Darius Miller also chipped in 13 points.

Erik Etherly scored 14 points, Dylon Cormier 13 and Justin Drummond had 10 points for the Greyhounds (8-3), who saw their longest winning streak since joining Division I in 1981-82 ended at eight at St. Bonaventure on Sunday.

Kentucky played without sophomore forward Terrence Jones, who missed a second straight game because of a dislocated finger.

The Wildcats (11-1) will take a few days off before returning to the court on Dec. 28 against Lamar. That game will be UK’s final tune-up before it hosts intrastate rival and fourth-ranked Louisville on New Year’s Eve.
