UNC Vs. Kentucky 2011: Time, TV Information, Preview

In what might be the game of the year so far, the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats host the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels in Lexington on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET in Rupp Arena.

North Carolina and Kentucky entered the year ranked No. 1 and No. 2 and the game would have played out that way before UNC’s loss to UNLV last week.

It’s the third meeting in the last year for these two. Last season saw both schools play two entertaining games, the first a Kentucky loss in Chapel Hill by two points before they defeated the Tar Heels in the NCAA tournament to advance to the Final Four.

The Wildcats have been simply overwhelming opponents with their athleticism, thanks to the 6-foot-10 Anthony Davis and the scoring of Terrence Jones. The Wildcats have beaten their first seven opponents by an average of 28.8 points and have yet to win by less than 10 while starting three freshmen and two sophomores.

The Tar Heels have had a shaky stretch after losing to UNLV and needing a rally in a 60-57 victory over Wisconsin’s methodical style. Knocking off Kentucky would certainly put North Carolina back on the right track, but Williams said he didn’t let last year’s loss in the regional finals necessarily serve as motivation for his team.

The game will be televised on CBS.
