When Mascots Attack: Vanderbilt’s Mr. C Bloodies Fan

The Mascot Arts are a tricky business. You want to excite the fans. You want to engage the fans. You want to bring the fans as close to the action as possible. Unfortunately, sometimes you bring the action with you.

Take Vanderbilt’s Mr. C, who found his way into the student section Tuesday night during the Commodore’s game against rival Tennessee. In an attempt to rev the crowd up, Mr. C started flailing about with enthusiastic, reckless abandon.

And that’s when people started bleeding...

Clearly, it was an accident and Mr. C seemed mortified. Well, as mortified as he can seem without any change to his facial features.

By the way, Vandy won the game. If a little blood sacrifice was the price that needed to be paid for the upset, so be it. I’m sure Commodore fans would gladly take a plush punch in the face anytime for a chance to make Tennessee fans cry.
