Tweeting from a technology conference today (hence the hashtag at the end), University of North Carolina’s chancellor Holden Thorp took a little shot at all the Duke students who have spent the past few days camped outside of Cameron Indoor Stadium before tonight’s Carolina-Duke game.

Ah, yes. All the CRAZY students in tents. I think they call that area “Krzyzewskiville”? Is where they pass out those zany cheer sheets? In any case, even though he quickly apologized, that’s an AWESOME move from the Chancellor.
Now, speaking of Duke, who wants to read about the time Coach K berated the staff of a college newspaper in front of his basketball team?
NOTE: As a UNC fan, I’m completely biased as far as Carolina-Duke is concerned. But even if you like Duke, let’s just make sure you remember who you’re rooting for. Like, take this account from a former editor at the Duke Chronicle, as told to Will Blythe in a deleted section from his book on the Carolina-Duke rivalry, To Hate Like This Is To Be Happy Forever:
“Since you guys know who all the players are, but the players don’t necessarily know who you are, why don’t you introduce yourselves?” the coach suggested. The Chronicle writers did as requested.
When they were finished, Krzyzewski launched into an eight minute profanity-laced tirade. “He started to yell and rant and rave,” Peele said. One of the reporters had carried a tape recorder inside his backpack and recorded the entire address. “I just wonder,” Krzyzewski told the journalists, “where your mindset is that you don’t appreciate the kids in this locker room. I’m not looking for puff pieces or anything like that, but you’re whacked out and you don’t appreciate what the [expletive deleted] is going on and it pisses me off…and I’m suggesting that if you want to appreciate what’s going on--get your head out of your [expletive deleted] and start looking out for what’s actually happening.”
