BYU forward Brandon Davies, dismissed from the team in March for an honor code violation, has been reinstated for the 2011-12 season.
Brandon Davies Reinstated To BYU Basketball Team
Brandon Davies has been reinstated at BYU and is clear to rejoin the basketball team according to a report from CBSSports.com. Davies was dismissed from the team and kicked out of school when he admitted to having premarital sex with his girlfriend, a violation of BYU’s honor code.
Davies started at center for the Cougars and one was of the leaders on the team averaging 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. BYU was ranked No. 3 in the nation at the time of his dismissal, and went on to lose 82-64 to New Mexico during the week of his departure. BYU would eventually fall 72-54 to 6-seed San Diego State in the NCAA tournament.

And so, everyone took turns trying to figure out what kind of deviant behavior Davies was engaged in that warranted this “unspecified honor code violation.” Turns out, it was just a little sex. Apparently.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Davies’ admitted to having sexual relations with his girlfriend, a violation of the code.

Though Davies has been dismissed from the team, and will not be able to play for the rest of the season, BYU issued a statement saying the school has not decided on his long-term future at the school and with the team.
Davies has been an integral part of the BYU offense, using 22.6 percent of the Cougars’ possessions while he’s on the court and posting an offensive rating of 112. His rebounding percentages, both offensive and defensive, are among the team’s best, and his ability to get to the free throw line is tops among BYU players who see significant minutes.
