ACC Tournament 2011 Bracket Update: Duke, UNC Play For Title Game Berth

Following a day that featured two blowouts and two nail-biters in the quarterfinals, the 2011 ACC Tournament moves into the semifinal portion of the bracket on Saturday. The early game features UNC and Clemson at 1 p.m. ET. The Tar Heels narrowly escaped Miami on Friday as they won on a last-second lay-up from Tyler Zeller after trailing the entire game. Clemson had a much easier time in its quarterfinal game, rolling over Boston College, 70-47. Both teams are looking to improve their NCAA Tournament seeding, and the Tar Heels could be in the conversation for a one-seed if they win Saturday and then Sunday in the championship game.

The second semifinal pits two-seed Duke against Virginia Tech. Much like the UNC-Clemson semifinal, this game has one team the cruised through its quarterfinal (Duke over Maryland) and another than barely advanced (Virginia Tech over Florida State). Virginia Tech appears to be on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble with its two ACC Tournament wins, but a victory over Duke would strongly secure its place in the March Madness field. Duke, like UNC, is playing for a possible one-seed.
