Today’s Kansas-Missouri Border War clash was one of the day’s most anticipated games, and though it wasn’t a particularly great game, it was definitely one of the more interesting college basketball matchups. So pre-empting the game in one of the fiefdoms of our nation full of both Jayhawks fans and Tigers supporters was not a good idea, even if the explanation given by Kansas City’s KCTV5 was, um, bright:
Kansas-Missouri Border War Gets Pre-Empted, CBS Affiliate Blames Sunspots
↵KCTV and CBS would like to apologize for the pre-empting of the Border Showdown. CBS Sports experienced Satellite isses due to Sun Spots.↵That explanation’s already drawn cynicism, refutation, and mirth on Twitter, but it’s about the best we’ve got so far. And I, for one, wish I had thought of blaming sunspots for lost homework in high school.
↵As for the game? Kansas won, 70-66, earning the Big 12’s regular season championship. Viewers may remember that as the second-most important detail of this game.
