Duke’s Kyrie Irving Declares For 2011 NBA Draft
Despite playing in just 11 games as a freshman for Duke, Kyrie Irving will declare for the 2011 NBA Draft and has plans to hire an agent. The school announced Irving’s decision in a press release, with coach Mike Krzyzewski giving the following quote.
Irving averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game in 11 games, missing the majority of the regular season with a toe injury. He returned in time for Duke’s three NCAA Tournament games, starring in a Sweet 16 loss to Arizona. The point guard is expected to be one of the top prospects in the 2011 NBA Draft, and is probably the odds-on favorite to be selected No. 1 as of right now.
