Maryland’s Comcast Center Court To Be Named After Longtime Head Coach Gary Williams

Williams, age 66, shocked the college basketball world in May when he abruptly announced his retirement. During his 22-year tenure as head coach of the Terrapins, he assembled a cumulative 461-252 record. In 2001, Williams led the Terrapins to their first-ever Final Four appearance, and his Terps won a national championship the following year.
Williams remains active in the Terps’ basketball program in his role as special assistant to the athletic director.
