Michigan State Senior Delvon Roe Ends Career Due To Knee Pain

Michigan State forward Delvon Roe has decided to end his basketball career due to severe knee pain.

Michigan State senior forward Delvon Roe has decided to end his college basketball career due to degenerative knee pain, the school announced Thursday.

Roe will remain on scholarship and is expected to graduate in May.

“This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make...It feels that I’ve been playing through pain throughout my career at MSU, but the daily grind of basketball -- the running, cutting, jumping -- has finally taken its toll, given the intensity required to play at our level.”

Spartans' head coach Tom Izzo commented on Roe's toughness

“We’ve built our program at Michigan State on toughness, and I’ve never had a player who played through more pain than Delvon...I look forward to having him remain around the program this year as he finishes his degree.”

Roe suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during his senior year of high school and since then played through problems and surgery in both knees.
