No. 8 Indiana Vs. Minnesota: Golden Gophers Upset Hoosiers, 77-74

The Minnesota Golden Gophers upset the No. 8 Indiana Hoosiers on the road to secure their first Big 10 win in dramatic fashion.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers upset the No. 8 Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ind. Thursday, staving off a furious rally in the final minutes to hand the Hoosiers just their second loss of the season, 77-74. It was also the Hoosiers' second loss in Big 10 play, and it's sure to drop them well out of the Top 10.

The Golden Gophers were led by sophomore Austin Hollins, who scored 18 points on 70 percent shooting and didn't turn the ball over once. They also overcome a massive effort from Indiana freshman Cody Zeller, who scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked two shots and went 9-9 from the free throw line and 7-14 from the field.

The Golden Gophers led by double-digits, or close to it, for most of the game. They were up nine points with 1:11 left on the clock before the Hoosiers mounted a furious rally, helped by two three-pointers from senior Matt Roth and old-fashioned three-point plays from Zeller and sophomore Victor Oladipo. Free throws from Austin Hollis helped seal the game, which wasn't over until the Hoosiers turned the ball over with 1.2 seconds to go.

It was the Golden Gophers’ first Big 10 win in five tries.
