The Mississippi State Bulldogs held on in the second half to bat the Tennessee Volunteers in Starkville, 62-58. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Volunteers were able to jump right back and tie the game 8-8 early on. The Bulldogs went on a little run however and took a 36-27 lead into halftime.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were able to hold off a second half surge by Tennessee to pick up their first SEC victory.
The Volunteers weren't backing down however, as they went on a nice little run to get back within four points before a Mississippi State time out to settle things down. The Vols battled tough throughout the second half but the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the 62-58 victory. Arnett Moultrie, Renardo Sidney, and Dee Bost all picked up 13 points for Mississippi State. The Bulldogs picked up their first SEC in the victory while the Volunteers fall to 8-8 on the season and 1-1 in the SEC.
