Thursday Night College Hoops Superlatives

PLAYER OF THE NIGHT: John Fraley, Austin Peay

We’ll show a little Valley love of the Ohio variety, as Fraley dropped 25 and 12 to help the Peay knock off Eastern Kentucky 80-65. The Governors (4-13, 1-3 Ohio Valley Conference) also ended their longest losing streak (0-3) to open league play since 1992-93.

More after the jump:

HONOR ROLL:

Matthew Dellavedova, Saint Mary's - Hit five 3-pointers on the way to 26 points and also dished out six assists as Saint Mary's pulled off a rare rout of rival Gonzaga, 83-62.

Jake Cohen, Davidson - Scored 26 points to pace four Wildcats in double figures in an 88-67 win over Western Carolina that kept Davidson as the only remaining unbeaten team in the Southern Conference.

Marcus Davis, Houston Baptist - I try to avoid rewarding player for performances against teams like Crowley Ridge College, but we'll make an exception here for Davis's 40-point, 13-rebound output.

Dominique Morrison, Oral Roberts - Hit the game-winning free throw with 1.4 seconds left in double overtime and finished with 27 points as Oral Roberts defeated Western Illinois 71-70.

Emmy Andjuar, Manhattan - Scored 17 points in 25 minutes, but gets the nod here for hitting a 25-foot game-winner at the buzzer to lift the Jaspers to a huge 75-72 win over Iona.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT: "In our away games, we came out flaccid, we came out aloof." --Auburn center Rob Chubb

This was actually from Wednesday, but a person named Chubb using the word “flaccid” demands attention.

I’m not sure what would be worse: if that’s a Saint Mary’s player who wore those glasses during the game against Gonzaga, or if that’s a Saint Mary’s student who took his shirt off to rush the court.
