Zach Tomaselli Admits Lying About Bernie Fine, Asks Police To End Investigation

For the second time in as many weeks, a Bernie Fine accuser has admitted to lying about at least part of his story.

Zach Tomaselli, the third accuser in the Bernie Fine molestation case, has admitted to falsifying emails that he sent to the Syracuse Post-Standard and The Daily Orange.

Tomaselli also told the Post-Standard that he will ask the Syracuse police to end their investigation of Fine, the former Syracuse basketball assistant who was fired by the university in November.

“I’m just guna ask the police to drop the investigation on Fine. I’m sick of this. I have a couple weeks left to live. I want to be left alone,” wrote Tomaselli in a text to The Post-Standard.

Tomaselli, 23, is expected to be sentenced in February to prison for sexually abusing a teenaged boy in Maine.

Tomaselli sent the text about two hours after he admitted to a Post-Standard reporter that he had doctored emails and frequently lied to news reporters to try to prove his allegations against Fine.

Last week, Fine accuser Floyd VanHooser admitted that he lied about Fine molesting him. VanHooser was the fourth accuser in the case.

Unlike VanHooser, Tomaselli maintains that he was molested by Fine. Still, he said Friday that he will drop the civil suit he filed against Fine on Dec. 8 that alleged the former coach molested him when Tomaselli was 13.
