No. 9 Michigan State vs. Purdue: Draymond Green Leads Spartans To Victory

The Michigan State Spartans picked up a good victory over the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon. Draymond Green was solid for Tom Izzo’s team despite scoring just eight points.

The Michigan State Spartans picked up a good conference win on Saturday afternoon as Draymond Green led a team effort to overtake Robbie Hummel and the Purdue Boilermakers in East Lansing. Green scored just eight points, but filled up the box score with 12 rebounds and seven assists on the way to an 83-58 victory over their Big Ten rivals.

The Spartans led by seven points at halftime, but opened the game up in the second half as they cruised to the 25-point victory amid the Boilermakers struggles from the field. It was a good bounce-back win for the Spartans after losing back-to-back conference games within the past seven days.

The Spartans leading scorer was Branden Dawson with 14 points in 19 minutes, but Tom Izzo's team got solid contributions all around as seven of his players scored at least eight points in the victory.

As far as Purdue was concerned, guard Lewis Jackson was the only starter to reach double-digits in the scoring column as they struggled to shoot just 29 percent from the field. Jackson added six rebounds and four of the Boilermakers seven assists, but it wasn't enough to overcome Hummel's 0-for-11 stinker on Saturday afternoon.
