No. 7 Kansas vs. Texas: Jayhawks Narrowly Beat Longhorns, 69-66

Thomas Robinson and No. 7 Kansas held on to beat the Texas Longhorns on the road, 69-66, and stay undefeated in the Big 12.

Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Robinson did what they were supposed to do as they helped their team, the No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks, eek out a conference win against the Texas Longhorns, 69-66. Taylor led the Jayhawks with 22 points and also had four assists, while Robinson dominated the interior again to the tune of 17 points and nine rebounds.

The Longhorns were led by J’Covan Brown with 24 points, but he took 26 shots to do it, indicative of the Longhorns’ game as a whole. They shot just 34.4 percent from the field as a team, and Brown missed a three-pointer just a few seconds before the buzzer sounded that could have sent the game into overtime. Texas’ free-throw shooting kept them in the game — they missed just once in 17 attempts — but it wasn’t enough for the win.

Though they were outrebounded by 10, the Jayhawks turned the ball over just six times all game, an astonishing mark that would put a smile on any coach’s face. They shot 44.6 percent from the floor, and did just enough to take the game.
