No. 11 Indiana vs. Penn State: Cody Zeller Scores 18 In Hoosiers Victory

Cody Zeller and the Indiana Hoosiers trailed at halftime, but the Penn State Nittany Lions folded in the second half as the Hoosiers rolled to a 73-54 victory in Big Ten basketball action.

The Indiana Hoosiers were able to get back on track Sunday afternoon after dropping three straight contests to Big Ten opponents. The fourth time was the charm for Cody Zeller and Co., however, as they rolled to a 73-54 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions during a home game in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers looked like they were in danger of losing their fourth straight contest after trailing 29-27 at halftime of Sunday afternoon's matinee, but junior guard Jordan Hulls scored all 14 of his points in the second half as Indiana dismissed Penn State just hours after the team learned of the passing of football coach Joe Paterno.

Indiana officials decided, less than an hour before tipoff, to hold a moment of silence in honor of Paterno, the coach who won an NCAA-record 409 games and was fired in November after child sex-abuse charges were filed against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

“It’s very sad on a variety of levels. Our heart goes out to his family and the entire Penn State community,” Indiana athletic director Fred Glass said.

Zeller's 18 points complemented his four blocks and four rebounds while fellow forward Christian Watford chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds to round out double-digit scorers for the Hoosiers. Penn State was led by guard Tim Frazier's 21 points, but the remaining four starters combing for just 13 points in the Nittany Lions' loss.
