Kentucky Carries No. 1 Ranking Into Athens To Face Georgia

The Kentucky Wildcats will play as the No. 1 team in the land for the first time since December when they face Georgia Tuesday night.

Just know that if I could have worked Teen Mom 2 into this headline effectively, I would have done it.

Oh, Jenelle. When are you going to get it together, my dear?

Michigan at Purdue (7:00/ESPN)

The Wolverines have taken four of their five losses (Arkansas, Virginia, Indiana and Iowa) in true road games, but will be facing a Purdue team that was absolutely shellacked by Michigan State over the weekend. Michigan has been outscored by an average of 15.4 points during their current six-game losing streak at Purdue’s Mackey Arena. They haven’t tasted victory at Mackey since a 78-67 win on Feb. 19, 2003.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt (7:00/ESPNU)

A big game for both a Vanderbilt team coming off an emotional loss to Mississippi State and a Tennessee team coming off an emotional win over Connecticut. I'm not sure who the announcing andem is, but I guarantee they'll spend an inordinate amount of time talking about Jarnell Stokes.

Baylor at Oklahoma (8:00/Altitude/YES/ESPN FullCourt)

This will be a good test for a young Baylor team disappointed by the fact that it couldn’t escape with a victory in either of its showdown games last week. The Bears have an extreme advantage over Oklahoma in terms of talent, but tonight will be all about their maturity. If these guys have what it takes to make a deep run in March, then they’ll take care of business in Norman.

South Florida at Marquette (8:00/SNY/MASN/CSS)

Marquette has responded well to the little bit of advers---SWEET JESUS SOUTH FLORIDA IS 5-2 IN THE BIG EAST!? These two have actually had a fairly interesting series, as Marquette has taken nine of the last ten, but six of those games have been decided by four points or less. South Florida’s lone victory in the series came in 2009 over an MU squad that had been the last remaining unbeaten in the league at 9-0. This should actually be quite watchable.

San Diego State at Wyoming (8:30/The Mountain)

Wyoming is off to one of the best starts in school history at 16-3, but the Cowboys desperately need a quality win to bolster their computer rankings. Beating the 17-2 Aztecs - whose trip to Laramie was halted by snow earlier this week - would certainly do the trick.

Kentucky at Georgia (9:00/ESPN)

The Wildcats will be putting both their 11-game winning streak and freshly-acquired No. 1 ranking on the line against a Georgia team that will welcome the challenge.

“How many people get this chance in life?” Georgia head coach Mark Fox said. “I never got it as a player. You don’t get it real often as a coach. It’s just great opportunity. And they’ve got a terrific team.”

Miami at Georgia Tech (9:00/ESPNU)

Georgia Tech has scored less than 20 points in the first half of each of its last three games. Ideally, you’d like to score more than that. Talk to me in the offseason about that top assistant position, Brian Gregory.
