Notre Dame Vs. Connecticut: Return Of Ryan Boatright Not Enough For Huskies

The Connecticut Huskies weren’t able to stave off their third straight defeat as they dropped Sunday afternoon’s game to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Ryan Boatright returned to the Connecticut Huskies again on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as UCONN dropped a winnable game to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Huskies were ranked 24th heading into the contest, but will likely fall out of the Top 25 after falling, 50-48, to Eric Atkins and the Irish.

The Huskies had a chance to win when Jeremy Lamb made the first of two free-throws to pull Connecticut within three points with just three seconds left in the game before intentionally missing the second and grabbing his own rebound. The ensuing jumper didn't drop, however, and the Irish pulled off the upset.

The Irish were led by Atkins' 13 points, but it was Jerian Grant who filled up the Notre Dame box score. Grant made just two if his nine field goal attempts, but made up for that with 11 points, five rebounds and six assists while contributing three steals for good measure.

Andre Drummond led the Huskies with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Lamb added 16 points of his own, but it wasn't enough as Connecticut dropped their third straight game. Boatright, by the way, scored just six points in 30 minutes as he returned to the Huskies lineup, but he likely had other things on his mind as it was reported earlier in the weekend that he's looking into his legal options against the NCAA.
