It’s far from a robust lineup, but who cares? Big Monday is back. School night, schmool night.
Big Monday Is Back As West Virginia Battles Connecticut
Both No. 11 Georgetown and No. 17 Connecticut are in action as the first Big Monday of the season is upon us.
Also, national championship game, schmational schmampionship schame.
The last one actually works.
West Virginia at Connecticut (7:00/ESPN2)
West Virginia is coming off easily its biggest win of the year in a 12-point victory over Georgetown, while the Huskies are suddenly reeling after bad back-to-back losses to Seton Hall and Rutgers. The Mountaineers boast the Big East's leading scorer and rebounder in Kevin Jones, but UConn might have the league's most talented player in sophomore forward Jeremy Lamb. Still, leadership has been an issue for Connecticut, and one that's even more in the spotlight following point guard Shabazz Napier's recent comments.
Worth noting is that WVU is 0-8 all-time at Connecticut, losing by an average of 15 points.
Oklahoma at Oklahoma State (7:00/ESPNU)
It’s the 221st edition of the Bedlam Series, where Oklahoma currently owns a 127-93 advantage. However, Oklahoma State has won three of the last four overall and 15 of the last 21 games played in Stillwater. Both teams have struggled in recent weeks with the Sooners dropping their first two Big 12 games after a 10-2 start, and the Cowboys losing five of their last seven.

Cincinnati at Georgetown (9:00/ESPNU)
The post-brawl magic wore off for Cincinnati over the weekend, as the Bearcats suffered a surprising 57-55 setback at the hands of St. John’s. Georgetown, meanwhile, saw its 11-game winning streak snapped via a 74-62 loss at West Virginia. The Hoyas are 9-0 at the Verizon Center this season, but will be facing a UC team that limited it to 28.7 percent shooting in two losses by an average of 17.0 points in 2010-11.
San Francisco at Saint Mary’s (10:00/CSN)
At least they haven’t already played this season...and when they play again it won’t be for the national championship.
