No. 20 Indiana At No. 23 Michigan Headlines Evening Featuring Nine Ranked Teams

The Wolverines will be looking to remain unbeaten at home when they host the Hoosiers on Wednesday night.

Some day I’m going to be allowed to work my “Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Exes” thoughts into these posts.

That day is not today.

Indiana at Michigan (6:30/Big Ten Network)

Neither have been playing at a particularly high level recently, which makes tonight’s meeting all the more important. Indiana won the first game between the two by a point, but now have to head to Ann Arbor, where the Wolverines have been tremendous this season. Michigan will be seeking its first 13-0 start at home since 1985-86. The Wolverines are holding opponents to 53.9 points on 39.5 percent shooting there, and have notched wins over then-No. 18 Wisconsin and then-No. 9 Michigan State.

Connecticut at Georgetown (7:00/ESPN2)

Coming off their third straight loss, Connecticut head coach Jim Calhoun has decided to start Ryan Boatright in place of Shabazz Napier at point guard tonight against Georgetown, and Roscoe Smith will replace Alex Oriakhi at power forward.

“Of course it’s difficult, but we think it’s best for the team,” Calhoun told the Hartford Courant about not starting his co-captains. “It’s not against anyone, it’s a move for us. I expect Shabazz will still play a lot of minutes.”

Rutgers at Providence (7:00/ESPNU)

Providence has now lost four straight and eight of their last nine. The Friars’ lone victory over that span is a 31-point win over Louisville. Makes as much sense as anything else in the Big east after Syracuse.

Georgia Tech at Florida State (7:00/FS Regional/NESN)

Florida State went from appearing to fulfill its role of perpetual disappointment to arguably the hottest team in the country. The Seminoles will go for their seventh straight win against a Georgia Tech team situated squarely in last place in the ACC.

VCU at William & Mary (7:00/CSS/Comcast)

William & Mary is just 2-9 in the CAA and 4-19 overall, but they did take the Rams to double overtime in the pair’s first meeting. I’m not saying you have to watch, I’m just...you know, I’m just saying.

Xavier at George Washington (7:00/FS Ohio)

There are 87 teams tied up in the Atlantic-10 and these are two of them. Feel free to fact check me on that. I don’t need your comments, I know I’m right.

Memphis at Southern Miss (8:00/CBS Sports Network)

Sole possession of first place in Conference USA is on the line.

Drake at Indiana State (8:00/FS Midwest)

Indiana State is trying to avoid being one of the more disappointing mid-major teams in the country while Drake looks to ride the wave of its monster triple overtime win over Wichita State on Saturday.

Georgia at Auburn (8:00/Altitude/MSG)

I don’t care what you have to do instead, do not watch this basketball game. Whatever happens to you as a result of your participation in the alternative activity will be better than what would have happened to you if you’d watched this basketball game.

Minnesota at Iowa (8:30/ Big Ten Network)

One of those games the Golden Gophers almost have to have for their at-large hopes.

St. John's at DePaul (8:30/SNY/MASN)

If you’re the kind of guy who bets your life savings on the opening day of the Big East Tournament, then you’re probably going to want to play extremely close attention. If you’re anybody else, you’ve probably got some better options out there.

Baylor at Texas A&M (9:00/ESPN2)

Baylor held Texas A&M to its worst shooting performance of the season when the two first played, and it will be hard for the short-handed Aggies to give a much-improved effort Wednesday night. Khris Middleton, A&M's second leading scorer at 12.4 points per game, is out with a knee injury and Dash Harris, averaging a team-high 4.3 assists, is day to day with a foot problem.

Oklahoma at Kansas (9:00/ESPNU)

It’ll be interesting to see how the Jayhawks respond to Bill Self’s call for more effort and enthusiasm from earlier this week, especially against a Sooner team that has already outrebounded them once this season.

Houston at UAB (9:00/CSS)

UAB has owned this series historically (17-5). Yeah, that’s all I got. I don’t know...I guess I’m sorry.

Boise State at San Diego State (10:00/CBS Sports Network)

The Aztecs will be looking to right the ship after an embarrassing 17-point loss to Colorado State over the weekend. Not great news for a Bronco squad still searching for its first conference win.

Colorado State at UNLV (10:30/The Mountain)

I’ve found that telling people to turn on “The Mountain” after midnight generally requires a follow-up explanation detailed enough that it makes the entire endeavor not worthwhile. If this game ends up being a classic, just enjoy it by yourself and go to sleep knowing you spared yourself some unnecessary embarrassment and frustration.
