Murray State was the last unbeaten in Division I men’s college basketball at the beginning of Thursday night. But after a 72-68 home loss to Tennessee State at home, the Racers are no longer blemish-free.

Murray State’s unbeaten run came to an end on Thursday night against Tennessee State.
The Racers pulled within a point of the Tigers with less than a minute to go on an Isaiah Canaan three-point play, but a miserable final sequence killed the Racers' chances of staying undefeated. After a Tennessee State turnover gave Murray State the ball with a chance to win, the Racers threw away an inbounds pass, then failed to even get a shot up on an opportunity to capitalize on two missed Tigers free throws — all of this without using any of their three remaining timeouts.
Canaan had 31 points to lead all scorers, and added six rebounds, but the last of his six turnovers sealed the Racers’ fate.
Robert Covington had 17 points and eight rebounds for Tennessee State, and Kenny Moore added 16 points, five rebounds, and four steals.
