St. John’s Vs. Georgetown: Hoyas Prevail In Big East Match-Up

The Georgetown Hoyas were able to rebound from their mid-week loss to the Syracuse Orange with a 71-61 victory over the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday afternoon.

The Georgetown Hoyas didn't have an easy go of it on Sunday afternoon, but John Thompson III's team was able to hold on for the victory in their Big East match-up with the St. John's Red Storm. The Hoyas were without a standout player, but a consistent effort across the board allowed them to leave the Verizon Center with a 71-61 victory.

The Hoyas had seven players score at least seven points, but back-up forward Greg Whittington led the team with 12 points off the bench. Jason Clark, Markel Starks and Hollis Thompson each scored in double figures, too, but it was Nate Lubick that made the biggest difference in the box score.

Lubick, a sophomore forward, scored seven points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished five assists and added three blocks for good measure while filling up the box score for the Hoyas.

As far as the Red Storm are concerned, they lost their tenth game against a ranked opponent this season, but didn't look terrible in the loss. D'Angelo Harrison scored 24 points and Moe Harkless added 20 himself, but the rest of the team wasn't able to pick up the slack in the St. John's loss.
