No. 4 Kansas Vs. Kansas State: Tyshawn Taylor, Jeff Withey Lead Jayhawks To 59-53 Win

Jeff Withey and Tyshawn Taylor formed a solid one-two punch in a 59-53 Kansas win over rival Kansas State.

Tyshawn Taylor and Jeff Withey formed an impressive one-two tandem as the Kansas Jayhawks held off a resilient Kansas State team on Monday night, 59-53. Taylor's 20 points paced the Jayhawks in the win, but it was Withey's all-around contributions, including a near triple-double, that stood out.

Withey finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks, just barely missing a triple-double. He was a force on the interior all night, disrupting shots on the defensive end and scoring with efficiency -- six-of-eight from the floor and six-of-seven from the line -- on the offensive end of the floor.

Thomas Robinson was also in double-figures from the Jayhawks, scoring 10 points. The three scored 48 of Kansas' 59 points, and the bench added just two points, from Connor Teahan, as the Jayhawks relied heavily on the trio.

Jamar Samuels scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats, but didn't quite have the support Taylor had on the night. Rodney McGruder added 12 points and Will Spradling finished with 10 points. Outside the three, only two other K-State players scored points in the loss -- Jordan Henriquez with four and Thomas Gipson with seven off the bench, the only reserve scorer for the Wildcats.
