The No. 25 Virginia Cavaliers visited their in-state rivals the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday night in ACC action. Virginia was looking to pick up another win to stay on pace and remain in the AP Top 25, and they were able to tough out a 61-59 victory over the Hokies.
No. 25 Virginia Vs. Virginia Tech: Cavaliers Stay On Track With 61-59 Win
The Virginia Tech Hokies hosted the Virginia Cavaliers on Tuesday night hoping to pick up the win. The No. 25 Cavs emerged with the win to keep pace in the AP Top 25.

Virginia might have expected Virginia Tech, who entered the game with a 4-8 ACC record, to be a bit more of a pushover, but the Hokies took the game right down to the wire. Virginia Tech actually entered halftime holding a 35-32 lead, but the Cavs bounced back in the second half and went ahead. Still, the Hokies managed to stay within two points right into the final seconds. Virginia was able to hold on for the win to improve to 21-6 overall, with an 8-5 ACC record.
The top scorer in the game was Virginia forward Mike Scott, who just missed out on a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Sammy Zeglinski and Jontel Evans each put up 13 points for the Cavs. On the losing end, Erick Green paced Virginia Tech with 19 points.
The Cavs will play their next game on Saturday, Feb. 25, when they host the No. 7 North Carolina Tar Heels. Virginia Tech's next game will also be on Saturday, as they visit the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils.
