The No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas used their suffocating defense to frustrate and harangue the No. 20 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, winning a huge Big East home game, 59-41, Monday night. Freshman Greg Whittington led the Hoyas with 15 points and senior center Henry Sims had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the Hoyas.
No. 20 Notre Dame vs. No. 11 Georgetown: Hoyas Stifle Irish In Convincing Victory
The No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas completely stifled the No. 20 Notre Dame Fighting Irish for a massive Big East win.

The Hoyas completely shut down the Irish — no one on Notre Dame even reached double figures in scoring. Sophomore Jerian Grant scored eight and had four assists and a steal, but shot just 2-12. The Irish as a team shot just 33.3 percent and grabbed 19 rebounds. By comparison, the Hoyas shot 52.3 percent with 32 boards. Guards Eric Atkins and Scott Martin led the Irish with nine points.
This win was a huge one for the Hoyas, because they move to 12-5 in the Big East (22-6 overall), moving past the Irish, who fell to 12-5 in conference themselves.
