South Florida Vs. No. 14 Georgetown: Hoyas Dominate Second Half In 30-Point Blowout

The No. 14 Georgetown Hoyas blew out the South Florida Bulls, 75-45, on Saturday.

The South Florida Bulls were within striking distance of the No. 14 Georgetown Hoyas at halftime. Down eight points at intermission, the Bulls just needed to start making a couple more shots, maybe a few 3-pointers, and they might be able to pull of the big upset. Instead, the wheels came off. USF shot just 4-for-19 from behind the arc, and the Hoyas scored 52 points in the second half to secure a 75-45 win on Saturday.

The Hoyas held the Bulls to 31.4 percent shooting from the floor. They also enjoyed a massive advantage from the free throw line, going 24-of-30 from the charity stripe compared to just 9-of-16 for USF. Center Augustus Gilchrist was the only consistently effective scorer for the Bulls, with 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting. Jawanza Poland, the team's second-leading scorer on the season, was held to just three points on 1-for-7 from the field.

The Hoyas, meanwhile, were able to empty the bench in the blowout. Five players hit double digits on the day, including 11 and 12 points for Jason Clark and Otto Porter, respectively, off the bench. Center Henry Sims led the way with 13 points and eight rebounds. Georgetown committed nine turnovers compared to 17 for USF.
