The No. 23 Temple Owls needed a second-half comeback and overtime to get by the UMass Minutemen by a score of 90-88 at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Khalif Wyatt’s game-winning layup with seconds remaining lifted the Temple Owls to a 90-88 win over the UMass Minutemen on Wednesday night.
Junior guard Khalif Wyatt's layup with 16.4 seconds remaining gave the Owls the win that clinched a share of the regular-season Atlantic 10 Conference title. Wyatt had a team-high 26 points, doing most of his damage from the charity stripe. While he missed six of his 10 tries from the field, he shot a sterling 17-of-18 from the free-throw line, and added a team-high six assists. Temple also got 19 points and 15 rebounds from center Michael Eric, and 18 points from guard Juan Fernandez, who made three of seven attempts from beyond the arc. Forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson played 42 minutes off the bench and had eight points to go along with his 12 rebounds. Little-used reserve guard Jake Godino got the ceremonial start on senior nigh.
With the win, Temple improves to 23-6 and are now 12-3 within the A-10. The Owls visit the Fordham Rams on Saturday afternoon.
For the Minutemen, redshirt sophomore guard Chaz Williams had a team-high 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting, including five of seven from three-point land, with 11 assists and eight rebounds. Forwards Raphiael Putney and Terrell Vinson had 16 points apiece.
UMass falls to 19-10 and 8-7 within the conference. The Minutemen return to Amherst to host the Rhode Island Rams at the William D. Mullins Center on Saturday.
