ACC Tournament Championship 2012, North Carolina Vs. Florida State: Noles Have Tar Heels On The Ropes, 49-40

The Florida State Seminoles and North Carolina Tar Heels tipped off to play for the ACC Tournament Championship, after making their way through the tournament field. The teams started fast and aggressive, running the floor and putting down points. FSU guard Michael Snaer was on fire early, quickly picking up 10 points and hitting on his first four shots from the floor, including two big three-point shots allowing the Noles to jump out to a 10-point lead at one point.

The Noles defense suffocated North Carolina early on in the game, forcing the Tar Heels to take a lot of poor shots and commit plenty of turnovers FSU was able to capitalize on, unlike the previous game against Duke. The Noles continued to get good play from Snaer, Ian Miller off the bench and Deividas Dulkys, who pushed the pace and consistently scored for the Noles. As a team, Florida State shot 62.5 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from three-point land. Snaer leads the Noles in scoring with 15 points and hit on all three of his three-point shots, while Luke Loucks has already picked up eight assists in the game.

North Carolina, on the other hand, struggled to sink three-point shots as the Noles defense never gave them a good look, shooting just 16.7 percent from the three-point line. At the half, Harrison Barnes leads North Carolina in scoring with 13 points and made their lone three-point shot. Tyler Zeller has quietly picked up nine points and six rebounds, while Kendall Marshall added eight points and four assists. The Tar Heels went on a small 7-0 run in the final minutes, but they still trail 49-40 going into halftime.
