2012 NCAA Tournament Scores: Florida Cruises Past Norfolk State 84-50

The Gators continued their torrid shooting from the first half, running into the Sweet 16 with a 84-50 victory over Norfolk State.

Just 48 hours after the program’s biggest victory, which busted brackets around the country, the Spartans descended back to reality against a Gators squad that showed why it’s one of the most dangerous teams in the country with its offensive efficiency.

Led by 20 points from Erving Walker, five Gators finished in double figures, as the team shot 58 percent from the field.

For Norfolk State, the dream to challenging Florida for a spot in the Sweet 16 died quickly, as they found themselves in a 30-8 hole mid-way through the first half.

The Spartans were never able to get going offensively, and Thursday’s hero, Kyle O’Quinn, finished with just four points on 1-9 shooting.

The Gators advance to meet Marquette in the Sweet 16 of the West Region.
