CBI Bracket 2012: Pitt, Washington State Move On To Championship Game

The 2012 CBI Tournament learned on Wednesday night its two teams for the championship game: the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Washington St. Cougars. The teams will play in a best-of-three series starting March 26.

The Panthers played the Butler Bulldogs in the first game of the night, but they needed overtime to secure a 68-62 victory. The Panthers had a six-point lead, 46-40, with 6:20 left in regulation, but a 12-6 run by Butler saved the day for the time being. Both teams had a chance to win it in the final seconds, but Butler missed two free throws and Pitt failed on a three-pointer right before the buzzer went off.

Pittsburgh had four scorers in double-digit points, led by Talib Zanna. Lamar Patterson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Panthers. Butler's Khyle Marshall and Andrew Smith scored 22 and 19 points, respectively.

Washington St. had few troubles with the Oregon St. Beavers in a 72-55 victory. Abe Lodwick scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the victory. Reggie Moore scored 22 points and was the only other Cougars player to score in double digits. The Beavers' Eric Moreland did his best, but a 14-point, 11-rebound performance wasn't enough to keep the team in the game.
