Danny Manning is leaving his position at Kansas as an assistant coach to become the head coach at Tulsa, according to ESPN’s Neil Everett.
Danny Manning To Be Named Head Coach At Tulsa
Kansas legend Danny Manning will reportedly be leaving his position as a Jayhawk assistant to become the new head coach at Tulsa.

Manning, the all-time leading scorer and rebounder at Kansas, has spent nine seasons on the Jayhawk staff, including the last five as an assistant. He was the No. 1 pick in the 1988 NBA draft and went on to have a 15-year pro career.
At Tulsa, Manning will replace Doug Wojcik, who was fired earlier this month after seven seasons. Despite averaging around 20 wins a season, Wojcik failed to take the Golden Hurricane to the NCAA Tournament, a factor which weighed heavily in his dismissal. It also didn’t help that the program’s revenue has dropped 43 percent and season-ticket sales have fallen 35 percent since his first season.
Tulsa has not played in the NCAA Tournament since 2003, when they upset fourth-seeded Dayton in the first round.
Manning is still currently a Kansas assistant, and will coach the Jayhawks this weekend as they play in the Final Four in New Orleans.
