Big East Tournament Odds: Game Schedule And Favorites From Madison Square Garden

The Big East Tournament tips off in Madison Square Garden Tuesday. Get yourself ready for all the week’s action with a schedule, early odds, and teams to watch as the week unfolds. All content comes courtesy of SB Nation’s partners at OddsShark.com.

A year ago, the Big East tournament began with UConn as the No. 9 seed and Pittsburgh expecting a top March Madness bid. A few days later, Pitt was out and UConn was the Big East Tournament champion, a title they parlayed into a national title three weeks later.

So with the Big East tournament odds menu shaping up Tuesday, there are a few cautionary tales for bettors who like top-ranked Syracuse. It’s also an optimistic tale for underdog bettors looking to back their favorite team this week.

"The Syracuse Orange have lost only once, but they have been very good and very lucky in closing out tight games in February," said Mark Presley of OddsShark.com. "They covered the spread just twice in their past seven games but have a few days to wait with the conference double bye."

UConn is once again the No. 9 seed and they face DePaul as the No. 16 seed Tuesday. The Huskies are 7-1 against the Blue Demons and have slammed them by 20 points or more the past three meetings. If you think they can pull off the same magic, they are +4000 to win the Big East. That means a $100 bet would pay out $4,000 in profit.

UConn vs DePaul is one of four Tuesday games involving the bottom eight seeds. Syracuse opened as +120 favorites at some shops tracked by OddsShark.com while Marquette checked in as the second pick at +300.

No. 13 seed Pittsburgh faces No. 12 seed St. John's and the No. 15-rated Providence Friars battle No. 10 Seton Hall Tuesday afternoon. The final game of Day 1 of the Big East Tournament pits No. 14 Villanova against No. 11 Rutgers.
