ACC Tournament 2012, N.C. State vs. Boston College, Final Score: Scott Wood, Wolfpack Cruise To 78-57 Victory

As the first round of the 2012 ACC Tournament got underway Thursday at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, the No. 12-seeded Boston College Eagles were looking to upset the No. 5-seeded N.C. State Wolfpack and keep their season alive. But behind a dominant performance from junior Scott Wood, the Wolfpack cruised to a 78-57 victory to advance to the quarterfinals.

The Wolfpack (21-11, 9-7 ACC) raced out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back, led by Wood and his five bombs from downtown. He finished the game with 22 points and three steals. C.J. Leslie had a solid double-double of 11 points and 11 boards, while Lorenzo Brown added 12 points, eight assists and five steals.

Boston College (9-22, 4-12 ACC) couldn't find much of a rhythm, shooting just 38.6 percent as a team while committing 19 turnovers. Ryan Anderson dropped 22 and 12 for the Eagles, and Lonnie Jackson chipped in 10, but it would prove not enough in the end. This year's Eagles squad now owns the record for the most losses in school history, eclipsing the previous record of 21 defeats set in 1988-89.

N.C. State now moves on to face the No. 4-seeded Virginia Cavaliers in the quarterfinals on Friday, with tipoff set for 2 p.m. ET. Coverage can be found on ESPN and the ACC Network.
