Wisconsin Vs. Indiana Final Score: Badgers Advance To Semifinals With 79-71 Win

The 2012 Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals roll on as the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers knocked off the No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers 79-71 behind a career-high 30 points from senior swingman Rob Wilson. After carving out a 36-31 lead at the half thanks to 10 points from both Jared Berggren and Wilson, the senior sharpshooter just never quit attacking. He drained an impressive 7-10 shots from behind the arc on his way to a game-high 30 points, and plunged in the dagger with a left wing triple that gave the Badgers a seven-point lead with just 38 seconds remaining.

That decisive three was set up by penetration from Jordan Taylor, who otherwise turned in a ho-hum performance with 12 points on just 3-12 shooting and four assists while battling foul trouble. Ryan Evans also added 12 points, and pulled off the dunk of the tournament on a quick drop-step and drive for a right-handed tomahawk in the middle of the second half. Berggren finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, and although Cody Zeller (his counterpart) scored 17 points, he only grabbed one rebound and struggled for position against the Wisconsin big man.

While the Badgers committed just five turnovers and hit 13 three-pointers as a team, the Hoosiers only managed a trio of threes and turned the ball over (11 TOs) more than they assisted each other (eight assists). Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford and Cody Zeller each scored 17 points, as those three players accounted for 51 of Indiana's 71 points and did not receive enough support from their teammates.

With the win in hand, Wisconsin now must turn its attention to the top-seeded Michigan St. Spartans, who won their quarterfinal matchup against the No. 8 Iowa Hawkeyes 92-75 earlier on Friday afternoon. The Badgers lost both regular season conference games against the Spartans, but get a chance at revenge in the semifinals on Saturday.
