Evan Smotrycz Transferring From Michigan To Maryland
Former Michigan forward Evan Smotrycz has announced that he will transfer to Maryland to play his final two seasons.

"I just felt really comfortable with the coaches and the guys on the team," Smotrycz told ESPN.com. "Maryland is such a big-time program that it would have been tough to beat. I didn't feel like I needed to go anywhere else."
Smotrycz, who has two years of eligibility remaining, began the 2011-12 season as a starer for the Wolverines, but was usurped by senior Stu Douglass midway through the season. Smotrycz finished the year averaging 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. He shot 43 percent from beyond the arc.
After sitting out next season per NCAA transfer rules, Smotrycz will join a loaded Terrapin frontcourt in 2013-14. Barring an injury, transfer or decommitment, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon figures to have the Smotrycz, Jake Layman, Damonte Dodd, Charles Mitchell, Shaquille Cleare and Alex Len all at his disposal.
Maryland finished 17-15 overall and 6-10 in the ACC last season.
