Ohio will formally introduce Jim Christian as its new head basketball coach on Tuesday, according to university officials.

Christian had been the head coach at TCU for the past four seasons, where he amassed an overall record of 56-73. Before that he’d spent six seasons with fellow MAC program Kent State, where he took the Golden Flashes to the NCAA Tournament twice and was named league coach of the year in 2006 and 2008.
Christian had an overall mark of 138-58 Kent State, the highest winning percentage of any coach who has been in the MAC for at least five seasons. His 76-28 mark in conference play is good for the second highest winning percentage in conference history among coaches with five years of conference coaching experience.
Christian will replace John Groce, who was named the new head coach at Illinois last week.
Groce, who was hired at Ohio in 2008, led the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament twice and won games there both times. This season he took Ohio to the Sweet 16, where top-seeded North Carolina needed overtime to keep the the Bobcats from becoming the first 13-seed ever to advance to a regional final.
