Seth Greenberg Firing Officially Announced By Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech Hokies have officially announced the firing of Seth Greenberg, terminating the Hokies' head men's basketball coach after nine years in charge of the program. Greenberg had a record of 170-123 in his time at Virginia Tech.

The Hokies had winning records in seven of Greenberg’s nine seasons with the team, but only made the NCAA Tournament once, in 2007. They were notably one of the last teams snubbed from the Big Dance in both 2010 and 2011, but went backwards in the 2011-12 season. Virginia Tech finished their most recent season 16-17, which included a 4-12 record in ACC play.

In a press conference, Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver stated, “We have terminated Seth Greenberg’s tenure as men’s basketball coach... We will engage in the coach search beginning tomorrow. ” He added, in a statement issued by the university, “I want to thank Coach Greenberg for his dedication and effort in leading Virginia Tech in the early years of ACC membership.”
