Tony Parker Commits To UCLA Basketball

The UCLA Bruins nabbed another top recruit on Monday when big man Tony Parker committed to the school.

Presswire

Remember when the UCLA Bruins basketball program was more or less in crisis, with fans calling for the head of Ben Howland? He's gone and answered his critics in superb fashion. He already had one of the best recruiting classes in the nation with Shabazz Muhammad and Kyle Anderson, and he added to it on Monday. Big man Tony Parker has committed to UCLA basketball, giving Howland what will almost unanimously be declared as the top recruiting class in the country.

UCLA’s hiring of assistant coach Korey McCray probably has quite a bit to do with Parker’s commitment to the school. The 32-year-old McCray was the coach of the Atlanta Celtics AAU team and his hiring was thought to open up a recruiting pipeline from Georgia to UCLA. Low and behold, Lithonia, Georgia’s Parker is going to be playing for the Bruins next season. That hire sure did pay off quickly.
