Two days after Jared Sullinger announced he'd forgo his junior season to enter the 2012 NBA Draft, his teammate DeShaun Thomas decided he'd be returning to Ohio State for his junior year.

Ohio State’s second-leading scorer DeShaun Thomas won’t be going to the NBA, unlike his teammate Jared Sullinger.


Thomas was an integral part of a Buckeyes squad that reached the Final Four, falling short against Kansas in the National Semifinal. The Fort Wayne native exploded in his sophomore season, more than doubling his scoring average to 15.9 points per game, second on the team, earning second- and third-team all-Big Ten honors by the coaches and media, respectively. was projected to be drafted in the first round of the draft by DraftExpress. But as a press release from Ohio State confirmed, he will be back for his junior year.
Thomas will be the de facto go-to scorer of an OSU team that will be looking to win its fourth straight Big Ten regular season title and third straight tournament title, and is the very, very early favorite to lead the conference in scoring.
