For the first time since 1969, Kentucky and Indiana will not play one another in basketball next season.

Because the two schools could not agree on where the games should be played, Hoosier athletic director Fred Glass said IU chose not to renew the series contract. Kentucky wanted the games to be played at neutral sites - as was the case from 1991 through 2005 - while Indiana wanted to continue alternating between Rupp Arena and Assembly Hall.

“We have a strong belief that this series should be played on campus and is something that should be beneficial for both teams,” said IU head coach Tom Crean.

Indiana defeated Kentucky at home on a last second shot by Christian Watford this past December. The Wildcats got revenge three months later by defeating the Hoosiers by 12 in the Sweet 16 on their way to winning the national title.

Kentucky leads the all-time series with Indiana by a count of 32-24. The two programs have combined for 13 national championships and 23 Final Four appearances.
