Jalen James Decommits From Illinois

The 6-3 rising senior point guard from Indiana committed to former Illini head coach Bruce Weber a little under a year ago, but is backing out now after Weber’s firing and the subsequent hiring of Jim Groce.
“It was an amicable parting,” Illinois Wolves club coach Mike Mullins said. “It was handled very well by Coach Groce and his staff and by Jalen and his family. Both sides are wishing each other the best, and that’s the way it should turn out.”
James, who is regarded across the board as a top 100 player in the class of 2013, has reportedly already received contact from from Florida State, Marquette, Nebraska, SMU and Tennessee.
“I wish coach Groce and the Illini staff the best of luck in the future!” James tweeted on Thursday.
