Lorenzo Brown, a junior guard who was a key cog in the N.C. State Wolfpack's run to the Sweet 16 in last year's NCAA Tournament, will have exploratory surgery on his right knee to determine why he's been experiencing prolonged discomfort, the team announced Sunday.

N.C. State guard Lorenzo Brown will go under the knife Tuesday to find out what’s going wrong in his right knee.


At this point, no one knows what actual ailment Brown is suffering from. The team said there is no timetable yet for his return from surgery, which will take place Tuesday. The team expects to provide an update on Brown’s condition at that time.
Brown averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists in his first full season at point guard while leading the ACC with 1.8 steals per game. Brown, combined with a potent recruiting class in head coach Mark Gottfried’s second season, has meant big expectations for the Wolfpack entering this season.
